Reading Lists

I am reading again!

Finally.

I have a 45 minute commute to work, and I’ve been attempting to spend most of that time on audiobooks.

It gets my mind off traffic.

Also, who has time to read physical books anymore? I have an almost-two-year-old, a full time job, farm chores, a not-quite-finished airplane hanger, and a greyhound.

I listen to audiobooks. And I count it as reading.

Amen.

I’ve loved being able to gather together a to-be-read pile again. Yes, I know, I had a two hour commute for eight months. But, let’s be real.

I was stressed out of my mind that entire time.

I listened to the radio a lot. Prayed a lot. Called Gloria to keep from panicking in traffic. (Sorry, Gloria.)

I got through a few books, but so many less than I wanted to, and I’m planning to make up for that now.

I’ve been stuck on classics since I started. Before that it was murder mysteries/thrillers. Now, I’ve been wading through the Illiad and the Odyssey, Death of a Salesman, J.R.R Tolkien, and Charles Dickens.

I have more mental energy now. Can you tell?

I miss having a physical book in my hands and having time to curl up with a new story, but for now, the commute will do. There are seasons, right?

Plus, I get to read lots of baby books right now.

The Little Blue Truck is a big favorite. So is The Pout-Pout Fish.

I can quote whole pages of The Pout-Pout Fish.

Someday, I’m determined that those baby books will turn into The Hobbit, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Narnia, and all the other books that I’m determined to read out loud to Adam. He’s not ready yet, but I’m waiting!

Until then, I can be happy with audiobooks and The Pout-Pout Fish.
