Camping and My Golden Birthday

Look at this cutie.

My goodness.

I don’t know how I get anything done with him around, I really don’t. He’s too cute for words, and all I want to do is squish his chubby cheeks.

Ahem.

On the subject of getting nothing done… does anyone else feel like they waited forever for summer to arrive, only for it to come speeding through, run you over like an out-of-control bus, and already be halfway down the road before you even realized it had been there?

Oh, thank goodness.

Me too.

Seriously, though, summer feels like it’s already on the way out—I never count August as ‘real’ summer because I get stuck inside with allergies—and I’m not sure I’m ready to see it go.

Thankfully, we managed a few ‘summer’ things. My golden birthday came and went last week, and we spent the weekend up in Wyoming camping with Adam.

We saw a moose.

Two of them, actually.

They were bigger than should be possible, and I still think their legs are idiotically long. Just, don’t tell them I said so.

We have a fall camping trip planned and many more weekend hikes to do, but I’m already anticipating pumpkin patches, corn mazes, Halloween chills, and hot apple cider coming my way. Still, I’m a little sad to be cooped up for the last month of summer, and have been wondering what else I should do to really enjoy it before the cold weather sets in.

Any suggestions?
